RESEARCH AREA
Economic and Social History: history of commerce, manufacture, customs duties, consumption, material culture, luxury

RESEARCH INTERESTS
I am working on:
1) the most important merchants, merchant bankers and merchant firms, registered in Milan during the 17th century and trading with Western Europe. My research relies primarily on legal documents relative to their businesses and networks in Milan and abroad, their relationships with the political power, their social status, their consumption patterns and lifestyle;
2) consumption and material culture (Milan, 17th century to Napoleonic Age); in particular: living standards, food and textile consumption
